Research and development has resulted in a number of unique features that have never before been available, even on large, high seas professional radars. This new technology has been enhanced by the introduction of a new generation of flat TFT screens that provide crystal clear radar pictures.

Fully Automatic 3 auto-settings give optimum tuning for use in harbour, short or long range. No need for complex adjustments to have the best performance possible. Presents the target echoes in different colors depending on the strength usefull in rough conditions to spot smaller targets.

High Speed Update By using a high speed antenna rotation the update rate of the radar image is doubled. This benefits high speed craft by increasing the target update rate and enabling the dual range function, thereby allowing early detection and tracking of high speed radar targets. This is important with the increasing speed of today’s vessels at sea.

Semi -3D facility All models have the semi 3D facility. This enables easy and instant discrimination between weak and strong echoes for recognition of small targets and obstacles. This feature is particularly valuable for targets to be seen clearly and naturally for easy recognition. The radar shows a simultaneous split screen of both conventional and 3D displays. Semi-3D gives a presentation of weak and strong echoes in 3D, ideal for entering narrow passages or harbours.

By connecting an electronic compass and speed log to the radar via the option input, the True Motion function can be selected.

Automatic Tracking Aid (ATA) The new RA30 series radars can also include an optional ATA function which tracks up to 10 targets designated by the user, manual acquisition, automatic tracking. Once locked on, the radar will automatically provide a menu of data which includes distance and bearing, speed and course and closest point of approach, as well as time on selected targets.

Echo tracking Indicates motion of radar targets relative to your vessel. Adjustable echo trail lengths enable different levels of observation of other ships movements when in True Motion. The tracking duration can be selected in steps, from 15 seconds up to 6 minutes, or continuous.

Simrad RA30 The RA30 is a 24NM radar using a 1.5 ft. compact radome antenna with 2kW output. Selecting the the compact radome antenna, combined with the 7” TFT display, makes the RA30 ideally suited for the smaller vessel. The low weight and compact radome antenna is particularly suited for mast installations.

Simrad RA31 The RA31 is a 36NM radar with a 2 ft. high performance radome antenna with 4kW output. The combination of the 2 feet radome antenna with the high power and extended range of 36NM, makes the RA31 a choice for the medium size vessel. Selectable high speed antenna rotation function is standard. The radome type of antenna is suitable for use on masts as it reduces the chance of snagging the rigging.

Simrad RA32 The RA32 is a 48NM radar operating with a choice of 3 or 4 ft. open scanner. The high performance antenna has a 4kW output. For maximum range and target definition the RA32, 7” TFT radar uses a choice of 3 or 4 feet open scanner. The dual antenna rotation speed (requires 24VDC main supply) provides double the update speed of the radar picture. The radar is suitable for larger vessels and high speed craft.
