C-MAP NT+ Worldwide Marine Cartridges
C-MAP/USA has announced C-MAP NT+, an advanced new generation of vector-based electronic charts that will change the way boaters navigate. Simply put, C-MAP NT+ offers navigators a new graphic presentation, enhanced performance and greater coverage areas – all at a reduced cost!
One of the most noticeable improvements with NT+ are user selectable presentation options. NT+ charts can be displayed in a variety of color schemes/palettes and fonts for optimum performance under changing conditions, such as when running at night, under overcast skies or in bright sunlight. C-MAP’s intelligent data layering lets boaters customize screen settings to view only the data they need to see, such as spot soundings, depth contours, nav-aids, hazards and more. In addition, pre-defined chart display options are now available to simplify the process of layering the data, including the following modes: Full, Simple, Fishing, Low & Custom.
Also added are “search functions” that allow the navigator to find the 10 nearest categories of objects within his position, such as Wrecks, Obstructions, Port Services, Ports, User Points, Restricted & Anchorage Areas, Tide Stations and NavAids.
In addition, NT+ gives boaters the ability to adjust the chart to show depth areas desired so navigators can visually determine a planned route. A programmable anti-grounding feature – Guardian Technology – provides alarms if your current course takes you within danger of shoals, obstacles or other areas where the water is too shallow for your vessel’s draft. This feature has proven valuable to C-MAP’s “high-seas” customers, and will provide an added level of security for all boaters.
Important advancements in data compression now permit C-MAP to offer significantly increased coverage areas. Wide NT+ charts typically cover more than twice the area as previous NT Wides. New Super Wide NT+ covers even larger areas. For example, one Super Wide chart will cover the West Coast from Santa Cruz, Mexico to Cape Mendicino, California. It’s unlikely even the most traveled boater will need more than one; however, C-MAP’s library of over 15,000 NT+ charts covers every square mile of ocean worldwide.
